1er GP sur ce circuit..... Aux 1er Essais Jim CLARK et Graham HILL sortent tout deux de la Piste et c'est Denny HULME qui fait le meilleur temps; le samedi CLARK a des problèmes de moteur et HILL d'embrayage et c'est Mike SPENCE qui sort de la Piste mais CLARK fait la Pôle avec le mulet réparé après sa Sortie de Piste..... Un warm-up a lieu avant l'installation en pré - grille, avec présentation des Pilotes au Premier Ministre : MR Georges POMPIDOU....
Course : Départ en tête de CLARK pour ne plus être rattrapé, quel classe..... Accident, Collision de Jochen RINDT au 3ème Tour, Abandon de Ronnie BUCKNUM au 4ème Tour, moteur, Richie GINTHER au 9ème Tour, électricité plus de HONDA..... Lorenzo BANDINI 2ème ce fait doubler par Jackie STEWART qui lui aussi ce détache, vient Dan GURNEY mais il a des problèmes de moteur, Abandon au 16ème Tour, Chris AMON au 18ème Tour, moteur également, Innes IRELAND au 19ème Tour, boîte de vitesses, Jo BONNIER au 21ème Tour, allumage et Bruce McLAREN au 23ème Tour, suspension arrière...... et c'est John SURTEES qui prendra la 3ème place....
Récapitulatif : 18 Engagés dont 1 Nouveau avec 10 Equipes sur 12 Voitures différentes.... Pôle de CLARK..... 17 Pilotes au Départ sur 7 Grilles de 3 puis 2 plus 2 sur la dernière.... Podium : CLARK devant STEWART et SURTEES, 9 Classés et 8 Abandons et un Forfait...Pôle, Meilleur Tour et Victoire pour Jim CLARK que dire..... Au Championnat : CLARK et devant HILL et STEWART ex-aequo et LOTUS est en tête devant BRM et FERRARI........ 1er points de HULME et superbe 2ème Place pour STEWART, pas mal ces petits nouveaux.....
