Info : FERRARI menaça de ne pas courir, car course que de 300 km. Moteur a simple allumage sur la FERRARI de Piero TARUFFI. ALFA-ROMEO a rajouté des réservoirs supplémentaires ainsi que des chevaux, TALBOT en redressement judiciaire mais fournit les pièces détachées. Qualifications disputées le vendredi et samedi avec du très beau temps....Pôle de Juan Manuel FANGIO, Alberto ASCARI diminué car blessé au bras ( brûlé lors d'une course à GENES la semaine précédente), il donnera sa voiture a TARUFFI.
Course le dimanche : pluie a torrent, devant 150000 spectateurs....... Un Tour de reconnaissance autorisé pour jauger la piste détrempée.... Problème sur la Grille de pompe à essence pour Peter HIRT, il va Abandonner au Départ.....FANGIO démarre en tête et le restera jusqu'au ravitaillement au 23ème Tour avant de reprendre sa place et de faire même le Meilleur Tour.... Abandon pour José Froilan GONZALEZ, pompe à huile au 10ème Tour..... Au 13ème Tour Luigi VILLORESI percute une haie et doit Abandonner ..... Au 15ème Tour, Abandon de Yves GIRAUD-CABANTOUS, allumage.... Abandon de George ABECASSIS au 24ème Tour, panne de magnéto... Deux accidents : une jambe cassé pour Henri LOUVEAU, voiture retournée qui Abandonne la F1 au 31ème Tour et Peter WHITEHEAD sortie de piste, il se fracture le nez contre le saute vent au 36ème Tour... Sortie de piste au 38ème Tour pour Emmanuel DE GRAFFENRIED mais il repart et finit 5ème....ASCARI finit quand même 6ème malgré ses douleurs...chapeau... Superbe fin de course de TARUFFI, l'homme du jour, qui double Guiseppe FARINA au 38ème Tour...
