1ère Course de MERCEDES et Juan Manuel FANGIO est chez eux.... Consommation trop importante aux Essais chez MERCEDES alors réservoirs supplémentaires fabriqués et montés dans la nuit précédant le GP.... Pôle de FANGIO avec pour la 1ère fois en Europe le 200 km/h de moyenne atteint...
Course : Karl KLING part en tête mais FANGIO le double facilement après 2 Tour, Alberto ASCARI a cassé son moteur dans le 1er Tour.... Abandon de Jacky POLLET au 8ème Tour, boîte de vitesses de Mike HAWTHORN moteur au 9ème Tour, Georges BERGER, culbuteur dans le même Tour, Lance MACKLIN au 10ème Tour, moteur, Froilan GONZALEZ au 12ème Tour, canalisation d'huile de Roy SALVADORI au 15ème Tour, pont arrière de Hans HERRMANN au 16ème Tour, piston..... Au 19ème Tour, Ken WHARTON, transmission et Harry SCHELL, moteur au 24ème Tour Roberto MIERES Abandonne, moteur, Louis ROSIER au 27ème Tour, moteur, Onofre MARIMON au 28ème Tour, transmission et enfin Maurice TRINTIGNANT au 36ème Tour, moteur.....
